STORY IN STONE - BEDFORDSHIRE MOSAIC TRAIL

STORY IN STONE - BEDFORDSHIRE MOSAIC TRAIL

Work is well underway with the mosaics for the towns of Sandy, Potton and Biggleswade.

Whilst I am making sections in my studio artist Carolyn Blake is working with many community groups in the three towns, from schools to residential homes, creating elements of the mosaics that will fit into my work culminating in a fabulous series of mosaics that will link together and tell the histories of the three towns.

Below is the first panel for Sandy illustrating the largest Roman sculpture discovered in the region and coins discovered of a pre-Roman era.  Also a depiction of a Roman hunting dog brooch from the 2nd century AD.

Above can be seen William Peel's VC (one of the first to be awarded and with a rare yellow ribbon) below is Peel's house, now visitor centre for the RSPB.  Both these roundels will be incorporated into the Peel mosaic panel for Sandy.
